From waste to design: the transformation process
To create the glasses from recycled PET, a carefully controlled process is followed that maximizes reuse and minimizes environmental impact.
It all begins with the collection of PET bottles from both urban and natural environments. These bottles undergo a sorting and cleaning process , removing impurities and classifying them according to type. They are then shredded into small fragments known as plastic debris , which form the basis of the new material.
Once shredded, this plastic undergoes a melting and transformation process into recycled PET granules , known as prilling . These small, transparent pellets are the heart of our new frames and allow us to create vibrant, homogeneous colors with excellent quality.
The final step is the most magical: the granules are processed through injection molding, polishing, and finishing until each frame takes shape. The result is astonishing: lightweight, durable glasses with a soft feel and colors that convey freshness and energy. Each design reflects the best of the Root spirit: modern style, personality, and respect for the planet .
